Nigeria Immigration Plans To Set Up Three E -Border Stations In Jigawa State.

The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) is seeking support from the Jigawa State government to establish three additional e-border stations at Kumsa, Dangwanki, and Galadi. The Assistant Controller-General for the North-West, Haladu Usman, made this appeal during a courtesy visit to Governor Umar Namadi in Dutse. He emphasized that the e-border project is vital for monitoring and controlling illegal border crossings, smuggling, and other criminal activities along the borders. Usman noted that while the NIS is ready to build more e-border stations, they are facing challenges, particularly in acquiring the necessary land for these projects.

So, we want to appeal to His Excellency, to see the possibility of providing the service with land to build more e-border stations,” he said.

According to him, the service is working to ensure that the entire region is provided with e-border stations for uninterrupted monitoring in various state commands and the NIS headquarters.

He commended the state government for its support to the service, which enables it to discharge its duties effectively.

Responding, Namadi described the NIS command in the state as part of its security architecture.

“The innovation of the e-border project is a good one because in today’s world, without technology you will be left behind,” he said, and called for the expansion of the project in the country.

“I want to assure you of our support to ensure that these three areas are covered and the state controller liaises with SSG to see what we can do to ensure that we give you all the necessary support,” the governor said.
